SanDisk claim hundredfold increase in flash write speeds
A new technology from SanDisk is claimed to boost flash's random write speeds by up to 100 times under certain conditions. SanDisk are also proposing two new metrics which may help customers compare flash to magnetic storage alternatives. SanDisk has called their new technology ExtremeFFS. I'm not going to try and explain this technology but it aparrently uses a version of the TrueFFS technology which SanDisk acquired when it bought M-systems, a flash technology company. SanDisk Intro 32GB Extreme III CF Card
SanDisk's have added a 32GB CompactFlash card to their 30MB/s Extreme III line of flash cards. SanDisk just announced the 32GB Extreme III CompactFlash card for $299. Super Talent - Super Flash Drives
On the Heels of Announcements by SanDisK and Intel, Super Talent have announce their SATA based line of SSD Drives. They are releasing 1.8" ultraportable laptop models, 2.5" laptop models and 3.5" desktop models. These drives will have capacities from 16GB to 128GB. With 1.8" Drives in 16GB and 32GB; 2.5" Drives in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB; 3.5" Drives in 64GB and 128GB configurations.
